HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) – An arrest warrant for a Connecticut paramedic accused of raping an unconscious woman inside an ambulance says he admitted to police that he touched her inappropriately.
Mark Powell, of North Haven, was arrested last week on charges of first-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint. A 22-year-old woman being taken to a hospital with a head injury on Christmas Day says she awoke to find an ambulance employee assaulting her.
The warrant says Powell at first denied any inappropriate contact but then said he touched the woman’s breasts and genitals “to elicit a response from or awake the female.” The warrant says he expressed remorse to police.
Details of the warrant were reported Monday by The Hartford Courant and the New Haven Register.
Powell hasn’t returned calls seeking comment.
