Late Sunday on June 5, 2016, a teenage cashier was working behind the counter at the Arco gas station at 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix. A gunman came into the store and ordered the clerk to empty the register. The robber put the cash in a black garbage bag and took off.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said the cashier did exactly the right thing.

“We always want the clerks  to be as safe as possible and we never want anyone to get hurt over property.”

Next, the attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, just before 2 p.m., the girl was near the clubhouse of her mobile home park near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street when a man approached.

“The suspect told the girl she couldn’t leave while he grabbed her by the waist and covered her mouth,” Rothschild said.

“Fortunately, in this case, the girl was able to escape and get away but we need help from the public finding this guy.”

Rothschild said you would know him if you saw him. He has curly dark hair and a very distinctive scar on the left side of his face. It runs from just below his hairline, over the corner of his eye to about the bottom of his left ear.
