This article originally appeared Aug. 1, 2016.

This could happen to anyone who’s selling a house. A woman returned to her home, which is for sale, to find an older, white, four-door car in the driveway.

“Maybe her first thought is that it’s someone looking at the house,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said. “But then she saw a man coming out the front door with a lot of her belongings.”

She confronted the man and he fled in his car with about $5,000 worth of her stuff.

Police were able to obtain a cellphone picture of the suspect and they’re hoping that other people who live nearby and have surveillance cameras will check their tapes.

The burglary happened July 11, 2016 at about 2 p.m. near 21st and Virginia avenues, south of Thomas Road.

Our next theft is pretty unusual. The victim is the Mayo Clinic near the Loop 101 and 56th Street in north Phoenix.

“On Sunday, July 3, and Saturday, July 16, 2016, two different white males entered the clinic and took IV pumps,” Rothschild said.

Those are the computerized pumps you see hanging on IV stands.

“And they add up pretty quickly,” Rothschild said. “The total loss is at least $15,000. And we’re really curious what these are going to be used for.”

Rothschild said they don’t know if the crimes are related and he warns other hospitals and medical facilities to make sure their IV pumps are stored some place secure.
