Phoenix police looking for suspects in 2016 shooting, 2017 store robbery

A shooting happened outside of a trendy downtown Phoenix bar where fans of retro video games like to hang out. It happened at the Cobra Arcade Bar near Second and Garfield streets.

A customer and his buddy left the bar right around closing time, early Saturday morning, on Christmas Eve in 2016. As they were crossing the parking lot, “the suspect approached them and asked the second victim for his gold jewelry,” Phoenix Police Detective Kim Neis said.

The buddy refused, so the suspect pulled out a gun and ended up shooting the first victim. He survived.

Police are looking for a man in his 20s with an average build but unusual hair style.

“His hair was described as being in two braids and positioned on top of his head,” Neis said.

No property is worth your life, Neis said, so if you ever face a robber, give him what he wants and focus on getting a good description for police.

Next, looks can be deceiving — as one convenience store clerk found out. Neis said it happened at the Circle K at 12th Street and Maryland Avenue in Phoenix.

Two middle-aged, average-looking men walked in and one of them pointed a handgun at the clerk.

“They both demanded cash and cigarettes,” Neis said. “And luckily the clerk complied. The two men then ran away. No vehicle was seen.”

It happened just after midnight on March 7, 2017.
