PHOENIX — Bill Stepien, the campaign manager for President Donald Trump, has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to Politico.

Stepien, 42, was diagnosed Friday. He is experiencing mild flu-like symptoms and is in quarantine, Politico reported and the Associated Press confirmed.

He plans to continue running the president’s campaign remotely.

Stepien replaced Brad Parscale as campaign manager in July. He joined the campaign in 2018 and had previously served as a White House political director.

He is one of several people in Trump’s orbit to be diagnosed with the coronavirus. After aide Hope Hicks tested positive on Thursday, Trump and first lady Melania Trump received positive test results.

Trump was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. White House officials said the visit is precautionary and that Trump will continue to work from the hospital.

He received a dose of an experimental antibody combination by Regeneron that is in clinical trials Friday evening, and late Friday night the president’s physician announced he had also initiated Remdesivir therapy.

In a video taped before leaving for Walter Reed, Trump said, “I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out.” He remained fully president, all authority intact.

Former Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway announced Friday she had contracted COVID-19.

North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis and Utah Sen. Mike Lee, two Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also tested positive.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
