AZ Political Podcast: Recapping Arizona’s 2024 general election results

Nov 7, 2024, 4:14 PM | Updated: 4:43 pm

PHOENIX — This week’s AZ Political Podcast is not your typical episode. Just a couple days after the Nov. 5 general election, Arizona continues to tally votes and several races are yet to be called.

I hosted a special election results show to discuss the results of the election.

Who is on this week’s edition of AZ Political Podcast?

The following guests joined this week’s conversation:

  • Stan Barnes, former state lawmaker and founder of Copper State Consulting. He discussed the future of the Republican party, voter sentiment and the makeup of the state’s legislature following the election.
  • Garrett Archer, data analyst with ABC15 Arizona, KTAR’s TV partner. Archer breaks down how many votes are yet to be counted and how long it’ll take to finish counting all ballots in Maricopa County and the rest of Arizona.
  • Adrian Fontes, Arizona Secretary of State. He discussed the process of tallying the count of the ballots in Arizona and what it would take to change the speed of the process in the future.
  • Steven Slugocki, Former chairman of the Maricopa County Democratic party. Slugocki shares his thoughts on why Republicans walked away with big victories during this election and what a possible Trump victory in Arizona means for the state.
  • Mark Dannels, Cochise County Sheriff. Dannels shared his view on the newly passed Proposition 314 in Arizona, a Republican-backed border security measure that makes it a state crime to enter Arizona from Mexico outside a legal port of entry.
  • Chris Merrill and Joe Huizenga, hosts of the Chris and Joe Show on KTAR. The duo offered their perspectives on President-elect Donald Trump returning to the White House.
