Opinion: Expect Trump to come out of left field in State of the Union speech

There’s a lot to be said about what may or may not happen during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, but I’m certain of one thing: He’ll come out of left field.
He’s going to do a few predictable things. He’s going to pitch bipartisanship, he’s going to talk infrastructure and he’s going to talk about the economy.
But after that, I’d expect a few surprises.
He loves to be in front of a crowd, even one that’s hostile toward him.
It’s going to be left field, it’s going to be interesting and it’s going to be what Trump loves.
But I’m looking forward to him moving America ahead and talking about the things he wants to do.
I think he’ll recap some of his past successes and focus on the economy when he needs a boost. After all, people vote with the pocketbooks and will give him a pass on a lot of other things as long as the economy is rolling.
It will also be interesting to see how close he sticks to the script. I’m thinking he’ll go off of it for a bit and I can’t wait to see what the Democrats have to say about it.
