5 hospitalized, including 2 with life-threatening injuries, after west Phoenix crash

PHOENIX – Five people were hospitalized, including two with life-threatening injuries, after a west Phoenix crash on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Four of the patients were adults and one was a child approximately 6 years old, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Firefighters had to extricate two adults who were trapped in their vehicles after the collision, which occurred just before 8:30 a.m. near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.
Two adults were transported in critical condition. The other three patients, including the child, were listed in serious condition with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.
The intersection was closed in all directions while the scene was under investigation, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
No other details were immediately available.
