PHOENIX — A 44-year-old man died Friday afternoon after he fell near the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, Circle K increased a $6,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a woman who assaulted a Phoenix store employee and a Yavapai County sergeant was involved in a fatal collision that killed a 74-year-old pedestrian.

Man dies after falling near North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park

A 44-year-old man died Friday afternoon after he fell near the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, officials said.

The park’s communications center received a report around 3:30 p.m. of a visitor who had fallen from the rim west of the Bright Angel Trail, according to a press release.

Rangers found the body of the man, who has not been identified, 200 feet below the rim.

Officials said the man was off trail when he accidentally fell off the edge.


Circle K increases reward to $6K in assault of worker at Phoenix gas station

Circle K has increased a $6,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a woman who assaulted a Phoenix store employee in early August.

The incident happened Aug. 4 around 2:05 a.m. near 32nd Street and Broadway Road shortly after two women were seen on video entering the convenience store, according to Phoenix Silent Witness.

One of the women struck the clerk with a brick, knocking him to the ground.


Frontier Airlines adding 10 direct destinations out of Phoenix Sky Harbor

Frontier Airlines is increasing its presence at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport by adding 10 direct destinations, the discount carrier announced Friday.

The expansion will be phased in starting in November, when Frontier launches its new Phoenix crew base. The base is expected to employ 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants when it opens.

“We are grateful for the commitment that Frontier has made with its crew base and the employment opportunities it provides,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said in a press release.


Yavapai County sergeant involved in fatal collision with a pedestrian

A 74-year-old woman died Friday night after she was struck by a vehicle driven by a Yavapai County sergeant while she was crossing the street.

Donna Gordon, of Yarnell, was killed around 7 p.m. near Highway 89 and Post Road, according to a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The driver was a YCSO sergeant, who has not yet been identified, on his way home from a shift, the release said.


Border Patrol seizes $4.3 million of fentanyl in Arizona traffic stop

Two U.S. citizens were arrested by Border Patrol on Wednesday after seizing 340 packages of fentanyl pills near Gila Bend, authorities said.

While conducting a traffic stop on a white Chevy Equinox that had exited Interstate 8 at mile marker 115, agents discovered several black duffel bags in the vehicle.

Agents received consent to search the vehicle by the female driving who was noticeably nervous, according to a press release.
