PHOENIX — In the midst of a global pandemic, more people are working from home than ever before.
According to FlexJobs, 4.7 million Americans work remotely, including a 159% increase from between 2007 and 2017.
And when it comes to remote work, one internet provider website named Phoenix as the best city in the U.S. for doing so.
The website manufactured the list by taking into account factors such as cost of living, internet connectivity and commute time savings.
Other variables used in the ranking process were an individual city’s access to coffee shops, libraries and coworking space (being able to work from multiple locations).
The website touts Phoenix’s combination of affordable coworking spaces, low living costs and solid internet speeds for its No. 1 ranking.
Out of the top 45 cities, Phoenix ranked No. 1 in coworking space affordability and No. 16 for strong and consistent internet speeds.
Tucson also found itself on the list as the only other city from Arizona at the No. 9 spot, tying Ohio as the only other state to have two cities in the top 10.
According to the website, 27% of the best cities to work remotely from are in the western part of the country, the second-highest percentage behind the southern region of the U.S. (36%).
