PHOENIX — The new Valleywise Health medical center in Phoenix broke ground two years ago from Saturday and nears 70% completion.

The 637,000-foot, 10-story hospital is scheduled to open late in 2023 on the corner of 24th and Roosevelt streets, according to a press release.

“Year over year, the excitement grows internally and within the community as this new facility comes closer to completion,” Valleywise Health president and CEO Steve Purves said in a statement.

“When we started this journey back in 2014, it was hard to visualize what this new healthcare beacon in our community would look like. Now I can physically see how this medical center will improve the exceptional care we already provide, but also enhance the community’s perception of Valleywise Health.”

Final roofing activities on the main tower are beginning, as is flooring work on the interior.

The new facility will replace the more than 50-year-old center currently in operation, according to the release.

It will include a burn center floor, Level 1 trauma center and aesthetic improvements from patients and guests, according to the release.
