PHOENIX — Valleywise Health on Wednesday broke ground on its new medical center in Phoenix.

The 673,000-square-foot facility will be built next to the current medical center near Roosevelt and 24th streets and is expected to open in late 2023.

The county facility will feature 233 private patient rooms, a dedicated floor for the Arizona Burn Center and ten operating rooms.

“We’re looking forward to the facility because it’ll be an environment where it maximizes patient experience and patient flow,” Steve Purves, president and CEO of ValleyWise Health, told KTAR News 92.3 FM. “We’ll have all the latest technology that makes care better.”

Other features of the 10-story facility include two interventional radiology areas, two catheterization labs and a dedicated procedural floor.

The new facility will replace the current medical center, which has been in operation for more than 50 years.

Valleywise Health was renamed from Maricopa Integrated Health System in 2019.

Valleywise operates more than 15 facilities across the metro Phoenix area.
