PHOENIX — The continued closure of a portion of U.S. 60 in Tempe due to a water main break, as well as a closure of Interstate 10 in the West Valley, are among the restrictions on metro Phoenix freeways this weekend.

The U.S. 60 Superstition Freeway will remain closed between I-10 and McClintock Drive in both directions throughout the weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

A segment of the freeway is expected to reopen next week after being closed since Saturday when a 50-year-old pipe broke and flooded the roadway with 8 million gallons of water, ADOT and the city of Tempe said Thursday.

The southbound State Route 143 on-ramp at University Drive and eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway Road have also been temporarily closed.

In the West Valley, westbound I-10 is set to be closed between 75th Avenue and the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway from 2 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

The northbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway ramp to westbound I-10, as well as the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 67th Avenue, are also set to be closed.

In east Mesa, the westbound U.S. 60 Superstition Freeway will be closed between Ironwood Drive and the Loop 202 SuperRedTan Interchange from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday for pavement sealing.

The project will then close the eastbound lanes of the freeway between the Loop 202 SuperRedTan Interchange and Meridian Road from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

Near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will narrow eastbound I-10 to three lanes between 24th and 48th streets from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.

In south Phoenix, eastbound I-10 is set to be narrowed to three lanes between Elliot and Warner roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday also due to work on the Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Elliot Road and eastbound off-ramp at Warner Road are also closed for the project.

In Buckeye, eastbound I-10 is set to be narrowed to one lane between Miller Road and Verrado Way from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for a widening project.
