Tratto in Phoenix makes New York Times’ top 50 restaurant list for 2021

PHOENIX — Phoenix restaurant Tratto has been named to The New York Times’ list of the top 50 restaurants in the nation for 2021.

Located at 1505 E. Van Buren St., the restaurant comes from the mind of Chris Bianco, chef and owner of Valley staple Pizzeria Bianco.

Tratto serves up handmade pastas and seasonal favorites made with mainly local ingredients, which the Times applauded in the listing.

“Its kitchen still proves that Arizona wheat makes pasta as exemplary as it does crust and bread, and that an Italian menu can be guided by seasonal regional ingredients, even in a desert city where walking to your car often feels like passing through a pizza oven,” Times food desk contributor Brett Anderson said in the listing.

He added Bianco is one of America’s most respected pizzaiolos for the flagship Pizzeria Bianco restaurant.

Reservations can be made for Tratto online.

Hours of operation for the restaurant are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. as well as Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tratto moved from the strip mall where it started five years ago to the current location amid the COVID-19 pandemic and is 1 mile from one of the two Pizzeria Bianco locations in Phoenix.
