PHOENIX — Tempe has been named one of the most environmentally-friendly cities for renters to live in, according to Apartment Guide.
A report released by the website ranked Tempe as the sixth eco-friendly city for renters, as 23.33% of the population already make up green communities.
Amenities from solar panels and smart thermostats to LEED-certified buildings and available electric vehicle charging stations are just a few examples of what renters may come across while living in Tempe.
Citing the 50,000 students at Arizona State University and the 200,000 people living in Tempe, the city has a need to keep up with an environment-friendly demand, according to the report.
“A population that includes a swath of educated, motivated young people – many bringing ideas from across the country – leads to higher environmental awareness,” the report said.
Rising numbers of solar panels, water catchers, natural and shade cooling, and urban agriculture are just a few green living initiatives the city has made after fighting with desert droughts, limited rainfall and scorching temperatures.
