PHOENIX — Tempe is installing dozens of new electric scooter parking corrals in downtown in the coming weeks, the city announced Wednesday.
A total of 41 parking corrals are planned for the downtown area from University Drive to Rio Salado Parkway and Famer to College avenues, the city said.
E-scooter companies will also geo-fence the corrals. Riders could receive incentives for returning scooters, and they can also see fees if they don’t park in designated areas.
An electric scooter parking corral has already been set up at Sixth Street and Forest Avenue.
Corrals will be placed approximately every quarter mile.
The corrals align with the city’s goal to make a 20-minute city, where residents can bike, walk or take public transit to meet all needs.
