Tempe continues to reopen amenities following COVID-19 closure

PHOENIX – Tempe will partially reopen parks Monday after closing to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.
The city will open dog parks, athletic fields and basketball and volleyball courts.
“Tempe has taken a careful, thoughtful approach to reopening the city and will continue to put health and safety above all else as we make these decisions,” Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell said in a press release.
“I know many residents are looking forward to using their city amenities once again and we are working to achieve a balance between reopening and ensuring the health of our employees and community.”
Park ramadas and pools are scheduled to open June 15, but splash pads and playgrounds will open after June 15.

Tempe previously opened pickleball courts, tennis courts, disc golf and skate parks May 13.
People who head to the parks must practice CDC guidelines including practicing physical distancing and avoid gathering in groups. The city also recommends wearing a face covering when possible.
More city facilities will reopen June 15 including Tempe public libraries, Tempe City Hall, Kiwanis Recreation Center, Tempe History Museum, community centers, the city compost yard, and other city buildings.
