PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested after allegedly shooting a man in Phoenix on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Francisco Valencia, 42, is accused of shooting the victim near 12th Street and Dunlap Avenue around 11 a.m., according to Phoenix Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with at least one gunshot wound. The man was taken to a hospital and is still receiving treatment.

Valencia was arrested shortly after and booked into jail on assault and theft charges, amongst others.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation due to the severity of the victim’s injuries.

No other information was available.
