Start of Van Gogh exhibit delayed a month; Scottsdale revealed as location

PHOENIX – The start of a ballyhooed Van Gogh art exhibit in the Valley has been pushed back a month and will be in a different city than originally promoted.

Immersive Van Gogh Phoenix, which initially was set for July 29-Sept. 26, has been rescheduled for Aug. 26-Nov. 28, organizers said Tuesday in a press release, which didn’t explain the reason for the delay.

The exhibit’s location was revealed as Scottsdale’s Galleria office complex at 4301 N. Scottsdale Road, in a venue dubbed Lighthouse Artspace.

Toronto-based Lighthouse Immersive is the company that produces Immersive Van Gogh events, which according to the release have sold more than 2 million tickets for showings across North America.

Tickets for the Valley version initially went on sale in March. Promotional material at the time said the location would be revealed closer to the start date, saying only that it would be in “the heart of Phoenix.”

Tuesday’s press release did not provide information about tickets that were purchased for July 29-Aug. 25 slots.

The Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit Phoenix Facebook page, in responses to commenters asking about the lost dates, said they can reschedule online or request a refund at ticketing@vangoghphx.com. The Facebook page also said people who purchased tickets for the dates that were wiped out should have received an email notification with their options.

A new block of tickets will go on sale online at 10 a.m. Saturday. Adult prices start at $39.99 plus fees for off-peak times and $10 more for peak periods, with the top VIP package going for $99 plus fees.

The show features massive animated projections of Dutch post-impressionist master Vincent van Gogh’s work, including The Potato Eaters, Starry Night, Sunflowers and The Bedroom Chamber.

We want to hear from you.
