Silver Alert canceled after 72-year-old Gilbert woman found

PHOENIX — A Silver Alert for 72-year-old woman was canceled soon after it was issued Saturday afternoon.

The Gilbert Police Department activated the alert for Maria Christina Vasquez just before noon Saturday and deactivated it at 1:30 p.m. after she was located safely.

She was last seen in Gilbert near Ocotillo and Lindsay Roads wearing a blue baseball cap with “Berkeley” on it, as well as a light jacket and yoga pants. Vasquez has also been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Vasquez apparently left her home on foot sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, according to police.

She stands 5-feet tall and weighs 120 pounds with brown and grey hair.
