PHOENIX – Several metro Phoenix animal shelters are offering free or reduced-price adoptions for a limited time as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope event.

Both Arizona Humane Society locations — 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix and the PetSmart at 4380 N. Miller Road in Scottsdale — are waiving adoption fees on dogs and cats from Monday through Dec. 20.

AHS gives priority to people who schedule appointments in advance but accepts walk-ins as time allows.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is offering the same deal at its two shelters, waiving adoption fees from Monday through Dec. 20.

You can check out the county’s critters online or in person at 2500 S. 27th Ave. in Phoenix or 2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Mesa.

The Arizona Animal Welfare League will have no-fee adoptions Tuesday through Dec. 12 for pets at least 1 year old at its main shelter, 25 N. 40th St. in Phoenix.

Heidi’s Village (600 N. 40th St., Phoenix) is using the Bissell Pet Foundation’s sponsorship to bring adoption fees down to $25 from Monday until Dec. 20.

More than 200 shelters in 40 states are participating in the Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope event.

We want to hear from you.
