PHOENIX — As scattered storms made their way across the Valley throughout Saturday, numerous areas saw heavy rainfall, leaving thousands of residents without power.

In the West Valley, Goodyear was hit with the most amount of rainfall in 24 hours, recording nearly two inches of rain near Estrella Mountain Regional Park, according to the Flood Control District of Maricopa County.

Parts of Phoenix and east Mesa also saw over an inch and a quarter of rain.

Paradise Valley, Peoria, Glendale and Queen Creek recorded nearly an inch.

A cluster of power outages left nearly 5,000 residents in Queen Creek without power by 6:30 p.m., while another 5,000 residents across the Valley were also experiencing outages.

Other areas scattered across the Valley recorded just under half an inch, including Tempe, Ahwatukee and Chandler.

Many areas in south-central Arizona were forecast to see up to an inch of rain, with the precipitation expected to fall mostly in the evening hours, NWS said.

A flood watch warning will continue across the Valley through Sunday.

The stormy weather throughout the weekend in the metro Phoenix area is expected to drop forecast high temperatures from 96 degrees on Friday to 81 degrees on Sunday.

The storm is the second large storm in Arizona, following a tornado in Coconino County on Oct. 3, since monsoon season officially ended on Sept. 30.
