PHOENIX – More than three months after canceling a Phoenix concert on short notice, Carlos Santana announced a new local date at a different venue.
The “Smooth” guitar guru and his namesake band will bring their “Evil Ways” to the outdoor stage of Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre on April 18 as part of the North American leg of the 2025 “Oneness Tour.”
Presales started Wednesday, and tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday via Live Nation.
What happened the last time Santana was supposed to be in Phoenix?
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was scheduled to perform at Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix on Labor Day, Sept. 2. But six days before the show, the 77-year-old legend announced he was taking a break from the road to undergo a medical procedure for a back issue.
Counting Crows were set to open the 2024 concert, but there were no special guests announced for the new date.
The “Oneness Tour” was originally booked to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Santana’s multiplatinum “Supernatural” album, which came out in 1999.
The 2025 legs of the tour, including more than 20 shows in Europe, are being billed as a celebration of Santana’s groundbreaking five-decade career.
Santana hasn’t performed in Arizona since June 2019, when the band played at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre when it was known as Ak-Chin Pavilion.
