PHOENIX — A lot of streets will be closed in the Phoenix area this weekend as officials gear up for the annual Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon.
Though the big race won’t be run until Sunday, streets will begin closing Saturday so the course can be prepared.
Thankfully, most of the closures will not last the entirety of Sunday and things will be continuously reopened throughout the afternoon as the race progresses.
The course begins in downtown Phoenix and courses east through the city through the Arcadia area and Scottsdale before winding up in Tempe.
As with any large event in the Phoenix area, it’s best for drivers to avoid the closures if at all possible. For those who can’t avoid them, it’s best to plan ahead, allow plenty of time to get somewhere and bring a handful of patience.
The race also recommend drivers download Waze, a community-based traffic app, to avoid running into a closure.
The full list of closures is available online. Be forewarned: It’s long and complicated, much like your drive could be if you get caught along the course.
