PHOENIX — A small town just outside of Phoenix may be the hottest place on Earth this weekend. Literally.

According to Weather Underground, Piedra, Arizona hit a whopping 127 degrees on Sunday making it the hottest temperature measured on Earth so far in 2016.

Although the National Weather Service cannot confirm whether the reading was entirely accurate or not, natives were definitely feeling the heat.

Phoenix reached its fifth-hottest day on record hitting 118 degrees. Yuma temperatures climbed all the way up to a scorching 120 degrees.

Tucson had their third-hottest day ever on Sunday, with temperatures reaching 115 degrees.

Sunday’s temperatures overall were the highest ever recorded prior to the summer solstice.

Heatwaves continue to keep the entire Southwest on alert, with heat advisories continuing through the week in Phoenix, Tucson, Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas.

We want to hear from you.
