PHOENIX – Arizona’s largest county still has close to 400,000 ballots that haven’t been tabulated, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes said Wednesday.

Fontes told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show the uncounted votes include about 160,000-180,000 early ballots that were dropped off at the polls Tuesday on Election Day.

“As far as the total number of votes that we have left to process … it’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 380,000-400,000, and again the reason the range on both of those numbers is the same is because we’re still making sure that we’ve got everything cataloged just right, scanned in just right, so that we can get this done accurately.”

Fontes said his office will report new results daily at 7 p.m. until all votes are tabulated.

He also said a new system has put the counting about 24 hours ahead where it’s been in previous elections.

“We’re going to continue our process as we have for a long time. It’s more efficient, it’s more accurate, but it takes time,” he said.

Fontes said any Maricopa County residents with concerns about the status of their votes should visit beballotready.vote.
