PHOENIX — Sanderson Ford will auction off a hand-built 50th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang Cobra Jet on Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson car show in Scottsdale.
The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. and benefits the Fighter Country Foundation, which supports Luke Air Force Base.
According to a press release, the car on the auction block is the most powerful drag-racing Mustang.
The original model dates back to 1968 and was created to maximize horsepower while keeping the car light.
Only 68 of the 50th anniversary models will be built.
The Fighter Country Foundation serves as liaison between the Luke Air Force Base and the Valley and supports the base’s men, women, families and mission.
The dealership said it hopes to raise “hundreds of thousands of dollars” for the charity through the event.
