PHOENIX — Commuting on Interstate 10, particularly the stretch between the southern Loop 202 and State Route 143, can be headache-inducing.

But that may soon change.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the Arizona Department of Transportation is looking into several traffic fixes to improve the nine-mile stretch of roadway.

The agency is looking into reworking the Broadway Curve interchanges between I-10, U.S. 60 and SR 143, though details of the possible plan were unclear.

ADOT also wants to add a traffic lane in each direction between Ray and Baseline roads and is exploring the idea of adding an auxiliary exit lane between entrance and exit ramps in the area.

If the agency decides to follow through on the plans, construction could begin in as little as three years.

The potential project would be paid for by designated Prop. 400 funds.

We want to hear from you.
