PHOENIX – President Donald Trump will spend time in Yuma to survey the border wall before his scheduled appearance in Phoenix next week, according to the White House.

Trump will receive a briefing Tuesday on wall construction and take part in a roundtable discussion with the local leaders and community members on border security.

The president will be joined by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, Acting Deputy DHS Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan and other officials.

He will then head to Phoenix to speak at the Students for Trump Convention at Dream City Church (13613 N. Cave Creek Road). He’s expected to take the stage at 3:40 p.m., according to a Students for Trump spokesman.

It will be Trump’s third trip to Arizona during this election year and his first time to the border in Yuma since 2017.

The president’s last visit to the state was May 5, when he visited a Honeywell facility that manufactures N95 face masks and participated in a roundtable on Native American issues.

In February, he held one of his signature rallies in front of a full house at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.

Trump’s rallies have been on hold since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, but he’s planning to get back on the road starting Saturday with an event at the 19,000-seat Bank of Oklahoma Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
