PHOENIX – Officers from multiple police agencies chased an armed robbery and carjacking suspect across metro Phoenix before taking him into custody late Tuesday.

Quilon Lopez, 19, of Glendale, was taken into custody by Goodyear Police, but the pursuit began in Scottsdale, where he allegedly forced someone out of their car and drove off. He is also accused of a robbery at the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Community.

Lopez faces counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, theft of means of transportation and unlawful flight.

Scottsdale officers used GPS to track the car to 91st and Glendale avenues and asked officers in Glendale to help catch him, the West Valley city’s police department said in an email.

Goodyear police said they became involved when they received word a car that had been stolen during the Scottsdale crimes was in the area of Camelback and Litchfield roads.

Police said they were told Lopez tried to pull another carjacking in a grocery store parking lot but failed that time and ran away.

Police said after taking another car, Lopez headed toward Loop 101, where he rear-ended another car near 75th Avenue and Bell Road.

He fled the crash scene on foot, reaching Peoria before authorities captured him.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Salt River police were assisting in the investigation.

No other details were immediately available.
