PHOENIX — Police arrested a suspect after a fatal shooting near Yuma and Dean Roads in Buckeye Friday evening.

Alan Gonzalez, 28, is in custody after allegedly shooting 27-year-old Alfonso Gastelum outside a home, according to a press release.

Police responded to multiple gunshots heard during a briefing outside the department’s headquarters.

Officers searched the nearby neighborhood and found Gastelum dead at the scene, according to the release.

Investigators uncovered that the victim’s relative had an injunction against harassment against Gonzalez, according to the release.

Gonzalez drove to the victim’s home Friday, confronted him before shooting and driving away, according to the release.

Officers soon found Gonzalez and arrested him without incident.

An investigation into the incident is underway. Anyone with information is asked to call the Buckeye Police Department tip line at (623) 349-6411 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS to remain anonymous, potentially for a cash reward.
