PHOENIX — A pair of callimico monkeys are the latest species to join the Phoenix Zoo.

Lilly, a 10-year-old female, and Vermouth, an almost 10-year-old male, were welcomed to the zoo a month ago and have been getting acquainted at the zoo’s Animal Care Center off exhibit, zoo keepers said.

The pair arrived separately to the zoo. Lilly came from the Fresno Chaffe Zoo, while Vermouth came from the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.

Callimico monkeys, also known as Goeldi’s monkeys, are small black-haired primates with claw-like nails that are commonly found in the Amazon rainforest, according to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo.

Both monkeys are getting along well and now reside in an exhibit on the zoo’s Children’s Trail, zoo keepers said.
