PHOENIX — Phoenix and Tucson were ranked in the top 15 cities that Americans are relocating to, according to a website for hiring movers.
Hire a Helper based the rankings off of 31,000 moves booked through its site during 2018.
The site found that Phoenix is the No. 14 city that the most people moved to, while Tucson saw even more new residents at No. 11.
Both cities also made the ranking of the top 20 cities people move from, with Tucson at No. 13 and Phoenix at No. 16.
Chandler was the city with the highest net gain of new residents in the state last year at 16.4 percent.
Scottsdale (10.9 percent), Phoenix (3.4 percent) and Tucson (3.1 percent) all saw net gains.
Mesa and Gilbert saw a net loss of movers at 30 percent and 10.6 percent, respectively.
Arizona was the No. 10 state gaining the most movers, with a 16.21 percent gain of new residents last year.
In the ranking of most common state-to-state moves, California to Arizona came in at No. 3.
According to the site, over half of the moves in 2018 were local and fewer than 50 miles.
Hire a Helper also found that Americans move half as often as they did in the 1960s, according to census data.
