PHOENIX — Turn the heater on and get those fuzzy socks out– winter is approaching as some Valley residents saw some chilly temperatures Sunday morning.

The temperature reached 49 degrees just long enough to set the low temperature for the morning, the National Weather Service said in a tweet.

It was the first sub-50 degree low in Phoenix since March 27, according to NWS.

Warm and sunny weather is predicted to continue throughout this week across the Valley, with strong odds of above normal temperatures and leaning toward below normal precipitation, NWS said in a tweet.

High temperatures throughout the week are expected to hit near the 80s, while cool temperatures will remain in the low 50s, according to NWS forecast.

Fall began on Sept. 22 and will last until Dec. 22.
