The Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury issued a joint statement Tuesday regarding Arizona Senate Bill 1062.
“Sports has the unique power to unite, to bring together a community without regard to individual differences,” the teams said in a written statement. “The Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury are proud members of this community, and we embrace fans, families and businesses of every stripe. We are steadfastly committed to the principles of inclusivity and acceptance, and cannot support anything that is not in line with that philosophy.”
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has until the end of business hours Saturday to decide the fate of SB 1062 but likely will veto the measure by Thursday or Friday, according to NBC News.
She told CNN on Monday night, “I will do the right thing for the state of Arizona.”
