PHOENIX — Less than three weeks after debuting a program that allows some passengers to save a spot in the security checkpoint line for free, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has made it available at its busiest terminal.
Customers starting Friday were able to use the PHX Reserve system at the D checkpoint in Terminal 4, Sky Harbor announced.
The pilot program went into effect March 1 at Terminal 3, the other terminal at Arizona’s largest airport.
Airport spokeswoman Heather Shelbrack told KTAR News 92.3 FM earlier this month that expansion of the program to Terminal 4 was possible.
“It’s a brand new program that will help travelers manage their trips and eliminate uncertainty and stress over how long it takes for them to wait in the security checkpoint line,” Shelbrack said.
Passengers can secure their place in a designated security line by visiting the program’s website and providing flight details, the size of their party (up to 10 travelers) and contact information.
Reservations are available on a limited basis and can be made up to 72 hours in advance for between one and four hours before scheduled departure.
The program operates between 4 a.m. and 3 p.m.
PHX Reserve is designed for general passengers, not those not enrolled in PreCheck or CLEAR services.
