PHOENIX – The air may have a chill in the mornings these days, but don’t let that fool you – Phoenix is on track to finish a very warm November.

If temperatures hit at least 80 degrees Monday and Tuesday, which is likely, the National Weather Service predicted, then the Valley will have enjoyed more days at 80 or higher in November than ever before at 25.

Phoenix had 24 days of 80 degrees or warmer in November 1949.

“We’ve had 23 days so far … and our forecast is calling for low 80s the next two days,” Phoenix bureau meteorologist Sean Benedict told KTAR News 92.3 FM early Monday, before the temperature again reached 80 degree.

The average high for Nov. 29 is 70, Benedict said.

“We’re pretty well above normal,” he added.

Tuesday’s high is expected to reach 80 degrees to close out the month, but that doesn’t mean the end of unseasonably warm temperatures.

December could debut at 82 degrees Wednesday, followed by 80 on Thursday before a slip to 79 degrees Friday.

Fall has been warm since it arrived Sept. 22, reaching 103 degrees that day.

Forecasters said winter, which begins Dec. 21, would likely have above-normal temperatures, too, pointing to La Nina bringing drier, warmer conditions.

KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Jim Cross contributed to this report.
