PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix wants residents to help crack down on misbehavior in public parks.

Anyone who witnesses violations of park rules can use the new 24/7 Parks Code of Conduct Answering Service at 602-534-9919.

Cynthia Aguilar, the director of the city’s parks and recreation department, said she hopes the Phoenix parks reporting service will improve the quality of life for locals.

“We understand that our parks are a valuable resource for our community, and we want to ensure that they are safe and enjoyable for everyone,” Aguilar said in a Tuesday press release.

How does new Phoenix parks reporting service work?

The phone service puts callers in contact with operators who will log their concerns.

Callers can give their name, phone number and email address.

An operator will then write down the incident details, which will be sent to park rangers, who can then review the call for details.

The park ranger’s response to the report will depend on his or her other priorities of the day. The ranger may reach out to callers if more information about the reported issue is needed.

However, if there is a crime or life-threatening emergency taking place, call 911 instead of the 24/7 Parks Code of Conduct Answering Service.

Anyone who’s confused about what kind of behavior is and isn’t allowed on public parks can learn more about the city’s policies online.

“This hotline will provide residents with an instant opportunity to report information that we can then be aware of and respond to, helping us provide a better experience for all park visitors,” Aguilar said.

We want to hear from you.
