PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix announced it has launched a new map for people to go on self-guided tours and see various art pieces throughout the city.

The map features more than 200 projects created by the city’s public art program, each with a description that highlights information about the piece and the artist.

“Art is everywhere, and now Phoenix residents and visitors have the opportunity to explore the city’s public art collection,” Mitch Menchaca, director of the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, said in a press release.

“They can visit these iconic pieces or learn about them without having to leave home. These pieces belong to the community, and we are thrilled to provide this kind of access and information to the public.”

Projects on the map include pedestrian bridges, underpasses, streetscapes, community water facilities and canal projects as well as indoor and outdoor sculptures, according to the release.

Those flying at Sky Harbor Airport can also learn more about the artist-designed terrazzo floors and installations at the facility using the map.

The public art program was established in 1986 and uses a collaboration of artists, engineers, architects and landscape architects to enhance public buildings, spaces and infrastructure with creative ideas, according to the official website.
