Pedestrian killed while crossing street in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man crossing a street in Phoenix has died after being hit by a vehicle early Monday, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department said the unidentified man was hit near Cactus and Cave Creek roads about 3:50 a.m.

Authorities said preliminary information indicates the man was walking outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle traveling on Cactus Road.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Cactus Road was restricted to 24th Street through the morning rush hour.

No additional information was made available.
