PHOENIX — Arizonans have another thing to be jolly about with Christmas approaching as Valley freeways will be clear of scheduled closures each weekend through the holidays.

There will be no freeway restriction this weekend, or over the Christmas and New Year’s weekends as well, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

While no closures are scheduled, drivers are advised to plan for unscheduled restrictions due to crashes, disabled vehicles or other incidents.

It is also recommended people check their vehicle before hitting the road, including the tire pressure, engine belts and hoses, fluid levels and the condition of the windshield wipers.

ADOT asks drivers to focus on safety during the holiday travel season by buckling up, obeying speed limits, avoiding distractions and never driving while impaired.
