PHOENIX — The popular Mill Avenue in Tempe will be getting a new restaurant and nightlife concept this August inside the former El Hefe space.
Anoche Cantina promises to offer Latin-inspired dishes and craft cocktails complete with an interactive build-your-own margarita bar at 640 S. Mill Avenue, Washington-based Ascend Hospitality Group said in a press release.
“We’ve had our eye on Tempe for a while and when the opportunity arose for us to take prime real estate on Mill Avenue, we jumped at the chance,” Elaina M. Morris, Ascend Hospitality Group CEO, said in the release.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring, what we call, the ‘AHG Difference’ to the Valley and join such a thriving community.”
The restaurant features 5,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining with a shaded patio adorned with booths, according to the release.
At night, Anoche Cantina converts into an “elevated nightlife experience” with top-of-the-line sound and lighting as well as a bottle service program.
“Anoche will provide a unique experience to help elevate the ever-expanding community,” Thomas Lawson, formerly of Riot Hospitality Group who is partnering with Ascend Hospitality Group for the concept, said in the release.
“Through carefully crafted eats and one-of-a-kind nightlife, we look to not just breathe new life into the area but give the area what it’s been craving.”
An upscale sports bar and nightlife concept, six40rty, will also open on Mill Avenue next to Anoche Cantina in September and feature a large patio with TVs, lawn games, bar snacks and cocktails, the hospitality group said.
An exact opening date has not been announced for either concept.
Both are looking to hire for all front- and back-of-the-house positions. Those interested can email Lawson or apply in person.
El Hefe closed in 2020 and the space has remained vacant since.
