PHOENIX — Chandler is now home to a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that creates barrier foil to protect products and equipment, according to city officials.
The 22,000 square-foot facility will be owned by Orlando, Florida-based 3D Barrier Bags, a manufacturing company that plans to use its Chandler location as its key operational hub.
The company creates products in the aerospace, defense and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) markets, according to a Chandler city news release from last week.
3D Barrier Bags CEO Ben Lewis said the company’s Chandler expansion reflects his desire to better service customers in the western U.S.
“The city’s growing industrial base, coupled with its proximity to key markets, allows us to better serve the needs of our clients,” Lewis said in the release. “This expansion reinforces our commitment to excellence and innovation in the packaging industry.”
What impact will 3D Barrier Bags facility have on Chandler?
City leaders hope 3D Barrier Bags will strengthen the positive economic effects from the Chandler Airport Business Park.
The property is located near Queen Creek and McQueen roads, which sits within a subsection of the Chandler Airport.
Although Google Maps claims the address — 1950 E. Queen Creek Road — is in Gilbert, Chandler officials confirmed it’s within their city limits.
“We are thrilled to welcome 3D Barrier Bags Inc. to the airpark employment area,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said in the release. “This successful packaging company is the essence of innovation and entrepreneurial talent that Chandler attracts.”
President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council Chris Camacho said he’s proud the company chose to set up shop in Arizona.
“As Greater Phoenix’s advanced industries such as aerospace & defense and the biosciences continue to evolve, companies like 3D Barrier Bags are vital to providing a local, specialized manufacturing output,” Camacho said in the release.
Lewis said he’s looking forward to helping expand the East Valley’s job market.
“We’re also excited about the opportunity to engage with the local community, provide job opportunities and offer continued training and development for our employees,” Lewis said. “This expansion reinforces our commitment to excellence and innovation in the packaging industry.”
