Motorcyclist dies after rear-ending car in north Phoenix

PHOENIX — A male motorcyclist died after striking the back of a car in north Phoenix on Sunday, authorities said.
Phoenix police responded to the area of 7th Street and Deer Valley Road at about 2:45 p.m. to find a man in critical condition.
He, identified as 34-year-old Braiden Lawson hours later, was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead from his injuries.
Early investigation revealed Lawson rear-ended a black Chevrolet Malibu as he sped through a red light heading westbound on Deer Valley Road. The car was making a left turn eastbound on Deer Valley.
The unidentified car driver who was hit by the motorcyclist also went to the hospital, but suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives are still investigating the area.
