PHOENIX — If it feels hotter than it’s been all year in Phoenix, that’s because it is.

The mercury reached 115 degrees at about 2 p.m. on Monday, the first time the mark has been reached in 2022, according to the National Weather Service.

It was about time Phoenix had a 115-degree day based on prior weather patterns.

The average first 115-degree temperature day comes on July 8, NWS said.

The only potential silver lining for Phoenicians is there likely won’t be a daily heat record set Monday.

The record high temperature for July 11 in Phoenix was 118 degrees in 1958.

An excessive heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. before temperatures cool slightly the rest of the week.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will see highs of 112 degrees before a dip to 111 degrees on Saturday.
