PHOENIX — Mesa came in as one of the top 20 best run cities in the U.S. thanks to a strong ranking in using their total budget per capita.

WalletHub ranked 150 cities in the country to determine which one was the “best run.”

They used two primary categories to judge the cities, including quality of city services and total budget per capita.

Mesa ranked 55 in quality of city services, 22 in total budget per capita and 19 overall.

Phoenix came in at No. 34 overall and Tucson ranked right behind at No. 35.

Mayor John Giles honored

Mesa mayor John Giles also earned individual accolades over the holiday.

He accepted the Outstanding Achievement 2019 Large City Livability Award for Mesa’s Community Court Program and he recieved the Chairman’s Award from the Latino Leaders Network.

“Mesa’s Community Court is creating real change for our residents,” Giles said in a release by the city.

“I believe that our Latino community helps us be a vibrant, interesting and economically robust city.”

The awards were presented at the 87th Annual United States Conference of Mayors.
