Cauthron died after suffering an unspecified health emergency, the department announced Sept. 29.
Cauthron left behind a wife and two children. A GoFundMe campaign was set up to support his family.
The firefighter had 18 years of service and was trained and certified in technical rescues and hazardous materials.
His skills qualified him to be a member of Arizona Task Force 1, which responds to national disasters when called upon by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
He deployed with the task force in June to help victims of wildfires and subsequent flooding in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
