PHOENIX — The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office last week arrested 14 suspects during a sting against marijuana delivery services, the agency announced Thursday.
Detectives set up the operation in an attempt to stymie the black market of the medical marijuana business, which MCSO said has grown rapidly since 2010.
The suspects delivered cannabis products to an undercover residence, where they were subsequently arrested after completing the transaction.
Detectives used online advertising site Weedmaps to contact multiple groups, according to a press release.
According to MCSO, the delivery services were asking for donations instead of a sale on their Weedmaps pages to mask the illegal operations.
All suspects were booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on charges of sale of narcotic drugs and sale of marijuana.
They were identified as Albert Shlamoon, Brian Natkie, Daniel Garcia, Deon Payne, Jacob Walters, Jalynn Pelletier, James Brown, James Watkins, Karly Cramer, Raymus Bryant, Richard Hartman, Shiyuan Peng, Tianna Westley and Wendy Gonzalez.
