PHOENIX — A man died after an apparent road rage shooting near Interstate 17 in Phoenix on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Officers responded to the shooting near 27th and Dunlap avenues at 6:30 p.m. and found 22-year-old Aramis Ross with a gunshot wound, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Ross was taken to a hospital, where he was determined to have a catastrophic brain injury that was not survivable.

What happened in Phoenix road rage shooting?

Witnesses said Ross and a 19-year-old man, who has not been named, were involved in an extended dispute that ended near the intersection of the shooting.

The suspect then allegedly shot Ross, police said. The suspect was detained shortly after, when he told police of his involvement.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

No other information was immediately available.
