PHOENIX — A Goodyear man was arrested after allegedly shooting at multiple cars in Avondale on Saturday afternoon, killing one person and injuring several others, authorities said.

Raymond Pipkin, 29, was booked on multiple charges including first-degree murder, the Avondale Police Department said in a press release.

Police said Gabriel Sotello, 34, of Goodyear was fatally shot and a 14-year-old was among the injured.

Police said they responded to reports of a shooting and multivehicle collisions near Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road around 1 p.m.

The investigation revealed Pipkin entered onto Interstate 10 and shot at two vehicles.

Pipkin then allegedly drove off the freeway and shot at multiple vehicles, which caused several collisions near Avondale Boulevard, between I-10 and Encanto Boulevard.

He crashed into a motorcyclist and tried to leave the scene but was arrested, police said.

Two people received minor injuries from the vehicle crashes, while the motorcyclist is in critical but stable condition.

Authorities said several people were involved due to their vehicles being shot.

Police said the motive for the shootings is unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing.
